Allahabad HC Extends Stay on Arrest of M. Zubair till January 16 in Yati Narsinghanand ‘X’ Post Case
The Allahabad High Court has extended the stay on the arrest of Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair until January 16.

The Court gave Zubair 10 days to file a rejoinder in response to the State Government’s counter regarding an FIR against him. The FIR, lodged in October 2024 by Ghaziabad Police, accuses Zubair of promoting enmity among religious groups through his posts on X (formerly Twitter).

Zubair has shared a video of Yati Narsinghanand, the priest of Dasna Devi Temple allegedly making inflammatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad. He tagged Uttar Pradesh Police, asking what actions were taken against Yati, and termed the speech ‘derogatory’.

A bench of Justice Siddhartha Varma and Justice Yogendra Kumar Srivastava passed this order while hearing Zubair’s plea challenging the FIR. Earlier, on December 20, the Court stayed his arrest till January 6, noting he is not a dreaded criminal. The Court observed that an offence under Section 196 BNS is made out, but whether Section 152 applies is yet to be decided.
