Allahabad HC Rejects Protection Plea of Married Individuals in Inter-Faith Live-In Relationship
The Allahabad High Court recently dismissed a protection plea filed by a married woman, who works in the police department and is currently on childcare leave, along with her live-in partner— a man who is already married and a father of a 12-year-old child.

The court also imposed a cost of Rs. 50,000 on the petitioners. Justice Vinod Diwakar highlighted that the petitioners concealed important facts in their plea. The man had not divorced his previous wife before starting a relationship with the woman.

Therefore, the court dismissed the plea, noting it had no merit. During the hearing, the Additional Chief Standing Counsel revealed that petitioner no. 1, a Hindu woman, is already married and on childcare leave. Petitioner no. 2, a Muslim man, is also married and has a 12-year-old child from his previous marriage. Despite this, they were living together in a live-in relationship, misleading the court about their marital status.

In conclusion, the court found material facts were concealed, leading to the dismissal of their plea and the imposition of a Rs. 50,000 costs, which must be deposited within 30 days into the Employees Welfare Fund of the High Court, Allahabad.
