Allahabad High Court Denies Bail to Man Accused of Forcing Wife into Prostitution
The Allahabad High Court recently denied bail to a man accused of forcing his wife into prostitution by compelling her to have physical relationships with his friends and others.

Justice Sanjay Kumar Singh noted that the case was not a simple matrimonial dispute but involved grave allegations that deeply violated the victim’s dignity and self-esteem.

The victim’s mother filed an FIR in June 2024, accusing her son-in-law of illegal activities and forcing her daughter into such acts after their marriage in February 2024. The husband was arrested in August 2024 under several charges, including Sections 498-A, 323, 328, 376-D, 504, 506, 120-B IPC, and the Dowry Prohibition Act. The husband sought bail, claiming false implication due to a marital dispute.

However, the prosecution argued that he married the victim with the intent to force her into prostitution. The victim’s statement under Section 164 CrPC revealed that the husband gave her a liquid substance that caused her hands and legs to shiver and lose consciousness and forced her into such acts. Considering the seriousness of the allegations, the court refused bail.
