Rajasthan High Court Quashes Recovery Order Against Officer For Not Reporting Agent In Govt Service
The Rajasthan High Court quashed a recovery order by Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) against a Development Officer, challenging the initiation of proceedings linked to business generated by an unauthorized agent who was a government employee.

The Court noted that LIC had not suffered any loss from the agent’s actions and had failed to take any appropriate steps against the agent for violating service rules.

The Court criticized LIC for acting against its own interests, as the agent brought business to the corporation, and found that the recovery order was based on unfounded claims of wrongdoing.

Furthermore, the Court pointed out that LIC had failed to provide evidence of a violation or conduct a proper inquiry before issuing the recovery order. As a result, the Court set aside the recovery proceedings.
