Worm found in Train Biryani: Delhi Court fines IRCTC ₹25,000!
Consumer Case

Imagine paying ₹80 for a veg biryani on a train and finding a dead worm inside it. That’s exactly what happened to a passenger on the Poorva Express from Delhi to Jharkhand. This person ate the biryani and soon started vomiting with severe stomach pain.

When he tried to complain, railway staff refused to give him the complaint register and later pressured him to take his complaint back. He was hospitalised, given three bottles of saline, and took injections for a week. The Delhi Consumer Commission examined the photos, the worm was right there in the food. The Commission said IRCTC had failed in its duty to ensure hygienic food for passengers.
Verdict: IRCTC held guilty of deficiency in service, fined ₹25,000 for mental and physical suffering.
