Imphal: President Droupadi Murmu has reaffirmed the Union government’s commitment to restoring peace and ensuring inclusive development in Manipur.

Addressing a civic reception during her visit to Imphal, the President appealed to people from both the hills and the valley to work together for harmony and long-term progress in the state.

Acknowledging the pain and suffering caused by ethnic violence in Manipur, President Murmu said the concerns of the people remain a top priority for the Centre.

She emphasized that lasting peace, security, and balanced growth are essential for rebuilding trust and strengthening social unity in the region.

During her visit, the President inaugurated multiple development projects across key sectors and laid foundation stones for several new initiatives aimed at boosting infrastructure, employment opportunities, and economic growth.

She noted that these projects would play a vital role in improving connectivity and livelihoods in the state.

President Murmu was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour upon her arrival at Imphal International Airport.

As part of her itinerary, she also visited the historic Imphal Polo Ground, highlighting Manipur’s rich cultural and sporting heritage.

The ground is globally recognized as one of the oldest polo grounds in the world.

The President is also scheduled to participate in the Nupi Lal commemorative event, which honors the historic women-led movements of Manipur against colonial rule.

Her visit is being seen as a strong message of the Centre’s focus on peace-building and development under the broader vision of a progressive and inclusive India.

This visit marks another significant step by the Union leadership to engage with Manipur and reinforce confidence among the people during a sensitive phase for the state.
